The Women's Open 4BBB was played June 1 in verry cold blustery weather

Report by Julie McRae
The Inverell Ladies Open 4BBB event was held Wednesday June 1st. Thank you so much to our valued sponsors of the day- Gaukrogers, Inverell H Hardware, Inverell Building Baaargain Centre, Campbell & Freebain Pharmacy & Vivier Boutique. We really appreciate the generosity of our sponsors and urge all players to, in turn, support these local businesses.
76 competitors pulled on their puffer jackets, beanies, long johns, scarves & mittens and faced the beautifully sunny day. It was very windy & cold, no denying that, but we were blessed with a dry day. Players came from, Inverell, Glen Innes, Warialda, Delungra, Guyra, Armidale, Newcastle, Goulburn, Grafton and Ballina. My apology if I have missed anyone.
Play was quite challenging with the strong wind affecting any ball that flew high and damp grass slowing run on any ball that didn't fly. This didn't seem to dampen the laughter, delight and good humour around the course though. Our visitors were very impressed with condition of the Inverell course and all credit to Ben and his team and our fabulous volunteers for your hard work. Many of the coastal visitors have not been able to play on their home courses for months due to wet weather and relished their game yesterday.
Once play was finished we enjoyed a delicious lunch thanks to Tablelands Catering in the warm clubhouse while results were being finalised.
And the winners were:-
1st place plus Marie Trim Salver - Shona Mulligan & Debra Heffernan from Guyra with 42 points

NEDGA sponsored Best 2nd shot on 9 was Amanda Kooperman.
There were also several ball prizes awarded.
AND the raffles - thanks to he generosity of the Inverell Women's Golfers the raffle draw was very keenly anticipated with many lovely prizes.
Women's President Helen Lockwood thanked all those who travelled for the event under less than ideal conditions and all those many people who contributed to the day, including the very hardy men who acted as spotters for the day in the more troublesome spots. I hope they were suitably fortified against the windy conditions.
